From a small beginning in May 1932, the Methodist Crusaders Choir, then with 75 choristers, was hurriedly formed and made its first public appearance at the General Conference Meetings of the Methodist Church of Australasia. It is primarily a hymn-singing choir, and the devoted members feel that the main purpose in their coming together is to spread the gospel message of the Church by means of song. This congregation was organized in 1925 when a group of Lutherans rented an unused Methodist church. A few years later the Methodists reorganized, and the Lutherans moved to the Episcopal Church. When the Methodists disbanded the Lutherans bought their church, and they worshipped there until October 26, 1980 when a new sanctuary was dedicated.
